About The Scene Score
We rank the best spots to be seen in every city — not by reviews, not by opinions, but by the actual scene.
What We Do
The Scene Score evaluates thousands of publicly available photos from every venue — from Google Places and Instagram — and scores them across six criteria: Ambiance, Food Presentation, Energy, Aesthetic Quality, Visual Distinctiveness, and Venue Appeal. Our AI looks at what the photos actually show, not what a reviewer felt like writing.
The result: rankings that reflect the real vibe of a place, updated continuously as new photos come in. No star ratings. No subjective reviews. Just the scene.
How Our Scoring Works
Every photo of a venue is analyzed by our AI vision model. Each of the six criteria gets a score from 1–10:
Lighting, decor, and overall atmosphere
How dishes look (when food is visible)
Crowd vibe, liveliness, and social proof
Overall visual appeal of the photo
Signature elements that make it memorable
How inviting the space looks as a destination
Scores are weighted and combined into a single overall rank. Only the best photos count — one stunning shot can elevate a venue, but consistent quality wins over time.
What Makes Us Different
- → AI-judged, not human-reviewed. Most ranking sites depend on user reviews — which are biased, sparse, or dated. We look at what’s actually happening in photos.
- → Continuously updated. New photos are scored as they appear. Rankings evolve with the scene.
- → We show provenance. Every score comes from a specific photo you can see. No black-box ratings.
- → Scene-first. We care about where you want to be seen — not where you want to eat in sweatpants.
Coverage
The Scene Score currently covers major metro areas across the United States, with new cities added regularly. Each metro area includes hundreds of venues across nine categories. We’re expanding — if your city isn’t here yet, let us know where you’d like to see next.
