Help & FAQ
How do your rankings work?
We rank venues by how desirable the scene is — not by reviews or star ratings. Our AI evaluates thousands of publicly available photos (from Google Places and Instagram) across six criteria: Ambiance, Food Presentation, Energy, Aesthetic Quality, Visual Distinctiveness, and Venue Appeal. Each photo gets a score, and the venue’s overall ranking reflects the best of what’s been seen there.
What do the categories mean?
We group venues into nine categories:
- Restaurants — Dining destinations
- Bars — Nightlife, cocktail bars, and pubs
- Hotels — Places to stay
- Entertainment — Shows, events, and experiences
- Attractions — Landmarks, museums, and points of interest
- Culture — Art galleries, theaters, and cultural institutions
- Cafes — Coffee shops and casual eateries
- Nature — Parks, beaches, and outdoor spaces
- Shopping — Retail destinations
How do I browse spots in my city?
From the home page, select your city to see all available categories. Tap any category to see the top-ranked spots, ordered by their scene score. You can filter by sub-category (cuisine type, price level, etc.) and area within the city.
How do I view a spot’s detail page?
Tap any spot name or photo on a ranking page. The detail page shows the spot’s best photos, category, hours, score breakdown, and a map. You can scroll through photos and see what makes each spot special.
How do I get an account?
The Scene Score is open to everyone — browse free, no invitation needed. To save favorites and create trips, sign up for an account. Existing members can sign in with their email or linked Google/Facebook account.
Can I share a spot or a list?
Members can create trips — curated lists of spots — and share them via a link. Trip pages show all spots on a map with rankings. Anyone with the link can view the trip.
How often are rankings updated?
Photos are continuously evaluated by our AI scoring system. New photos are scored as they become available, and rankings reflect the latest data. The underlying venue data (hours, location, name) updates periodically via Google Places.
Can I suggest a spot that’s missing?
We’d love to hear about it! Use our Send Feedback form to suggest a venue. Include the name, city, and any relevant details. Our team reviews suggestions regularly.
